June 2007

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Lord! I trust you had a great May, ours certainly was! It was filled with surprises, good and not so good but through it all, the Lord reminded me He was still on the throne and not to worry…it was all under His control and for that, I’m grateful!

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day with our two daughters that live here in the DFW area and that was a high time for Dottie. You would have been proud of me the way she was honored and pampered by her husband. But then later in the month, we lost a dear friend and brother in the Lord, Byram Merrell. Please remember his wife Jean in prayer as she mourns the loss of a devoted husband of 56 years.

Death and life are realities that we all deal with daily. We are focused on keeping teams from the USA working with our teams in Ghana and India as well as their own mission projects. Please read on and see what the Lord has been doing in other places…

Ghana - April Project Report from Evangelist Godfried Tei

April was a very busy month for the team led by Godfried, a field evangelist with GHI since 1994. Faithful to the message of the cross, they showed the Passion of Christ 16 times during the month as they criss-crossed through the Central Region of Ghana. In these meetings they preached the Word of God clearly to 18,550 people and 2,121 came forward from the crowds indicating a first time decision for Christ. As usual there were many testimonies but this one stood out:

“I have been a fetish priest for a period of 10 years. I was ordained when I was a young man and have known no other way of worship. I started having sleepless nights about two years ago when I had an encounter with a young lady who turned down my proposal of marriage. This had never happened to me before and I could not understand what was going on because all spiritual interventions had failed to turn things around. I tried to cast a spell on her but this also failed. After much trying and investigation I found out the lady was a Christian. I found out also that she had a protective wall around her which my spells could not penetrate.

During the film show about Jesus, I saw the man who was shielding the lady and he spoke directly to me and told me plainly ‘without me you can do nothing’. I said to those screening the film; please show me how I can meet this man Jesus.” Nii Laryea Ogbaame of North Taifa.

Godfried replied, “It was my pleasure and delight to lead this hungry soul home to Christ. I supervised the shaving of his dreadlocks and handed him over to the Maranatha Church for further follow-up.”

Also, Eugene Narh and his team of five are still in the fields as this report goes out, so please keep their health, safety and anointing before the Lord.

Upcoming India Project – July 12 – 28

Please keep in prayer the preparation work there for our team of ten that will be leaving in six weeks. We are trusting the Lord for about $50,000 for the expenses of the project as well as six months operating expenses for the GHIndia team, The Father’s House and Harvesters Training College. Please join me in praying for an outpouring of His blessing in the next six weeks.
GHI and GHI National Teams Year-to-Date Report
Through April 30, we have…preached in 220 venues; 107,812 people have heard a clear presentation of the Gospel; 46,353 have come forward to receive Christ as their Savior, and three (3) new churches have been planted. Certainly the Lord does His part but it’s your obedience and ownership in this ministry that continues to make this happen.
It’s Urgent That You Know This…
Paul wrote to the church at Rome, “the night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light…Rom.13:12.” When he wrote this, he suspected the Lord’s return could be at any moment. But after we fast forward nearly 2,000 years and know that most if not all prophecy concerning the Lord’s eminent return has been fulfilled, we know that verse is more relevant than ever.

We also know that according to missiologists and scripture that there are more people being saved at this moment than at any other time in church history. We must continue to be aggressive with going to where people are instead of waiting for them to come into our churches. For this reason alone when the Communist walls fell in 1990 we rushed into Eastern Europe and parts of the former USSR and enjoyed riding the wave of Gospel enthusiasm. Sadly those days have now passed.

But beginning in January, 1990 and April, 1994, we began working in areas where God was mightily at work and still is….India and Ghana. At that moment and now, there are more people being saved in the African continent than any continent in the world. There are more people being saved in India than any country in the world. This is why we continue to invest there. It is not rocket science. It was Robert Murray McCheyne that said, “the mark of every great man that God used in every generation was that man who checked into heaven and found out where God was working and then co-operated with him.” It was this quote that later became the message of Manley Beasley from 1960-1990 and then Henry Blackaby in Experiencing God.

Why am I telling you this? You and I together have both the privilege and responsibility to be on board with the mind of God for our day as we fulfill scripture a day at a time. Not to be boastful but please tell me the ministries that are seeing the blessing like we are? Since January 1 we have seen 386 people come to Christ every day. Evangelism (the cross and the blood) is the centerpiece of our faith and God is still not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, 2Pet.3:9.

So can I prayerfully ask you not to read another prayer letter from us and go another month and say, ‘oh let someone else support them’! In Jesus name, please join us in reaching these great harvesting fields while the Lord tarries. We have so much to do and so little time to do it. GHI is blessed with 39 missionaries across the world who are not sitting on padded pews when they worship. Most of them are on their knees – and that is why God is using them the way He is.

Join us while there is time. Our Bible College needs to expand along with our orphanage, please pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do.

Dottie joins me in sending our love….Mack
